Schiavello Startup Cadet
I feel very valued by the people I work with and really enjoy the company culture.
What did you expect from the Schiavello Startup programme?
I wanted to gain experience, exposure, networking opportunities, and guidance from skilled people within the industry.
What’s one thing you know now that you didn’t when you started the Construction Cadetship?
Although I’ve learnt a lot at Uni, I’ve come to realize that coursework can only teach you so much – what I’ve learnt at Uni is only 1/100th of what it’s like in the real world.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learnt during the early days of your Cadetship?
I’ve learnt that there’s nothing more important in this industry than working hard and giving it your all to help the team as much as possible.
Would you recommend the Schiavello Startup Programme to your friends?
Yes, I definitely would. I feel very valued by the people I work with and really enjoy the company culture. I already have a few friends wanting to work at Schiavello.
How has the Schiavello Startup Programme added value to your education / career?
Gaining industry experience, knowledge and necessary skills has been extremely valuable both in my education and career. Learning the day-to-day role and responsibilities of a Project Manager while still at Uni has given my theoretical education a practical perspective.
This Construction Cadetship also adds value to my career development by making me a more attractive employee.
What’s your dream job?
I would like to manage my own projects as a Construction Manager.
How have you found the support structure at the NSW construction team?
There’s no shortage of people I look up to on a daily basis for advice. It’s a great environment where anyone and everyone is always willing to help.
